Often it is the first 2 or 3 steps that will make the space needed to get involved in the game or be closed out of it. Conversely the defender must learn how to read, stay balanced, and react quickly to the movements of the attacker if they are to keep them out of the game. These multidirectional quickness skills are specifically addressed through reaction hoop drills.
